Community ACTION call; A Bracebridge family has lost everything in a recent fire, donations needed

BRACEBRIDGE - A Bracebridge family needs community support following a house fire which destroyed everything they owned.

Family friend Katelyn Marie Good hopes to raise $10,000 via a GoFundMe campaign for the family who also tragically lost their 11 year son and 16 year old nephew in a March snowmobiling accident .

“They lost everything including their two dogs in the fire. They are currently in emergency housing which is tiny for this big family, but a roof over their heads and warmth for now,” said Good.

Good said on the family’s GoFunMe page that it was difficult for her to watch her friends house burn and not be able to assist.

“They won’t be able to salvage anything from their home and they did not have tenant insurance unfortunately. They have 6 children ranging in ages 2 1/2 to 14 who were left with nothing not even shoes on their feet. They are going to need new clothes, new everything, and a place to live.  So I am here doing what I can do to help this family at a horrible time in their lives again. I’m hoping with community support we can get them through this too.”

Good is also looking for gift cards, food and clothing donations, kitchen and household items. Donations can be dropped off at 90 Ann Street in Bracebridge.

Good recently updated the GoFundMe page with the following information.

“We’ve been told by the landlord that if the house isn’t fixable they will be demolishing it and not rebuilding. So they are looking for a new permanent home if anyone has anything or knows of anything big enough for this family of six that would be amazing. Once again the family wants to say thank you to everyone for the continued support and love.”
