MUSKOKA LAKES - Over 25 Donzi boats dashed around Muskoka Lakes on Sat. Sept 21 and raised over $4,000 for the West Muskoka Food Bank.

The annual Donzi of Muskoka Poker Run’s theme was "Dollars For Dinners". The monetary donation makes it possible for the food bank to prepare over 300 freezer crockpot meals.

This was the clubs fifth year running the event, the fundraising aspect was added three years ago.

Participating in the run was Muskoka Lakes Mayor Phil Harding who said that “by far this was the largest donation to date” by the club.

Donzi of Muskoka members typically meet in Port Carling at the locks. Tours are generally organized on lakes Rosseau, Joe and Muskoka.

The poker run rules are simple: Each participant pays $20 to buy a poker hand. At each of the “stops” they draw a poker card and the best hand at the end wins half the pot the other half is donated to charity.

This year the event route began in Port Carling, went to Gordon Bay Marine then to Clevelands, Windermere, then to Rosseau with a lunch at Crossroads.

The annual poker run is open to anyone who has a Donzi boat.
