GRAVENHURST - The 2019 Community Spirit Awards were awarded this evening at the Gravenhurst Opera House honouring individuals and groups who have shown outstanding volunteerism and or achievement, with recipients nominated by members of the community and their peers.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of this awards ceremony, it gives us all the chance to personally thank and congratulate the many outstanding members of our community for everything they do. This is what makes us Gravenhurst proud,” said Mayor Paul Kelly.

“We have so many great people, doing great things for our community and this is a night to applaud their efforts,” he added.

The evening featured Community Spirit Awards Committee Chair Gord Durnan as the Master of Ceremonies, who called the evening a ‘big hug for Gravenhurst’, musical interludes by pianist Abby Liang entertained the large crowd on hand and a social reception followed the ceremony.
