Man charged with double homicide escapes Thunder Bay jail and is on the loose in Northern Ontario

UPDATE: On April 2 Thunder Bay Police Service located and arrested Kareem Zedan without incident.

CityNews has reported that a 22 year old prisoner charged with a double homicide escaped from the Thunder Bay District Jail on Wednesday evening and is now on the loose in Northern Ontario.

Kareem Zedan is from Pickering and was held in Thunder Bay where he was arrested on March 24 and charged with two counts of first degree murder in the deaths of Larry Reynolds, 64, and Dorothy Lynn VanEvry, 62. The couple was found dead in their Brantford home on the morning of July 18, 2019. Zedan was scheduled to appear in court this morning.

Police say they discovered Zedan had escaped on Thursday morning and are now in the process of searching for him. Muskoka Post has sent an email to Huntsville OPP to follow up on the story. As more information becomes available we will update this article.
