MUSKOKA - Trillium Lakelands District School Board is advising parents to find childcare arrangements for Monday Oct. 7 as CUPE gives warning of a full strike.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) has provided notice that they will be starting a full strike - withdrawal of all services across the province on Monday, October 7, 2019. TLDSB schools continue to remain open to staff and students for the remainder of this week.

Trillium Lakelands District School Board is confirming details of the strike action and assessing the potential impact on school operations. The health and safety of students is the boards priority. TLDSB wants school communities to be aware that this strike action by CUPE may result in school closures as of Monday, October 7, 2019.

Families are strongly encouraged to begin making childcare arrangements prior to this potential strike beginning on Monday, October 7, 2019. The board will communicate directly to parents and guardians once a decision is made about potential school closures.

TLDSB understands that a strike may have a significant impact on school communities and they appreciate that timely communication is important. They will provide additional details on the CUPE job action as soon as available.
