I’ve been studying the Wim Hof Method for over three years now. I’ve been an instructor for a year and a half and I have over 200 students. I’ve seen and heard the results of this work and feel compelled to share it with you. It’s not a cure-all but it is an opportunity for us to gain command of this situation by improving our immune system, having an alkaline body (temporarily), reduce symptoms, stress reduction, mental clarity, and more focus.

Wim taught us that when you command your breath, you command your mind. When you command your mind, you command your body.

One of the pillars of the Wim Hof method is breath work. Breathing is the easiest and most instrumental part of the autonomic nervous system to command and navigate. It affects the chemical and physiological activities in your body. By practicing this form of breathing we work with both the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight)and the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest). In our Western society often the sympathetic nervous system is overworked. Right now with the fear and panic associated with Covid19, this system is being taxed greatly and as a result our body releases the primary stress hormone cortisol in high concentrations and this disrupts the endocrine system.

There was a study done at Radboud University in Holland that proved when Wim was injected with an endotoxins, he started the breathing and his adrenaline skyrocketed. They were able to prove through this study that Adrenalin also subdued the activity of the immune system cells. Wim proved he could suppress his immune system - voluntarily. Then he taught a group of healthy volunteers how to do it and they got the same results.

You can do this too and I can teach you how. It’s not a cure-all but we all know that if we have a strong immune system, we will have less severe reactions and it won’t last as long. It’s one way you can take command of your body!
