NBA legend Kobe Bryant, 41 killed in helicopter crash

Retired Basketball star Kobe Bryant and four other people died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on Sunday morning.





“It is with great sadness that we learn of the death of Kobe Bryant and four others in a helicopter crash in Calabasas. The aircraft went down in a remote field off Las Virgenes around 10:00 this morning. Nobody on the ground was hurt,” the city of Calabasas said on Twitter.


The FAA released a statement this afternoon at 3 p.m. confirming that five people were on board the chopper. The Sikorsky S-76 helicopter crashed “under unknown circumstances.” The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are set to investigate.

Bryant reportedly owned the chopper and was known to use it during his days as an LA Lakers player. Bryant was married and had four children, his 13 year daughter Gianna is said to have been travelling with him on board the helicopter. Reports of her death are unconfirmed at this time.
