👉5 more COVID deaths in the region brings total to 24. 👉26 new cases today 👉8 Long Term Care facilities are in outbreak status in Simcoe Muskoka with 1 in Huntsville - Chartwell Muskoka Traditions 👉The Huntsville case is a woman in her 90's who is currently being Hospitalized at Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare 👉COVID-19 Swabbing is taking place at the Chartwell Retirement Home today 👉 1 single case constitutes an outbreak in long term care homes - provincial guideline 👉 Testing took place this morning at 11 a.m at Chartwell Muskoka and community paramedics will be swabbing the remainder of staff this afternoon. 👉 76 Residents reside at Chartwell Muskoka, Health Unit didn’t have staff numbers 👉 Long term care facilities and child care centres are under mandatory surveillance. 👉 To date the Simcoe Muskoka region has tested over 1,200 long term care residents and staff out of 7,000. 👉 “It will be a time yet before we get this under control.” - Dr. Charles Gardner 👉 Gardner is “disappointed” that outbreaks continue to occur in long term care facilities but explains that health care workers are out in the community where the virus is still prevalent. 👉 Until we have a vaccine to protect seniors that demographic will continue to be vulnerable. 👉 “Curve is not going down in a steady way.”- Gardner 👉 Don’t mix ammonia and vinegar together to make cleaners - THIS IS DANGEROUS. Health Unit recommends purchasing commercial cleaners.
