GRAVENHURST- Election season is now underway and there's a full slate of all candidates meetings taking place across the Muskoka-Parry Sound riding.
The debate is scheduled at the Gravenhurst Opera House on Tuesday, Oct. 1, where all five local contenders are expected to attend.
The Gravenhurst Chamber of Commerce and the Lakelands Association of Realtors are co-sponsoring the event and are putting out a call to the public to make their voices heard.
Members of the public can submit questions they’d like to pose to the candidates for the Parry Sound-Muskoka riding. Questions received prior to Sept. 25 will be reviewed by a committee and those selected will be put to the candidates on Oct. 1.
“Our goal is to find out what really matters to local residents and take those questions to the candidates,” said Sandy Lockhart, executive director of the Gravenhurst Chamber of Commerce.
“We want this to be about the people of the riding and their concerns.”
Questions can be submitted prior to Sept. 25 to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Candidates expected to be in attendance are Scott Aitchison of the Conservative Party, Trisha Cowie of the Liberal Party, Gord Miller of the Green Party, Michelle Smith of the People’s Party of Canada and Tom Young of the NDP.
The Gravenhurst Federal All-Candidates Meeting will be held at the Gravenhurst Opera House on Monday, Oct. 1 between 6 and 8:30 p.m. The doors to the Opera House open at 5:30 p.m. and the public is invited to stay and chat with candidates until 9 p.m.
The event is made possible with the help of sponsors Hunter’s Bay Radio, Country 102, Muskoka 411, The Moose 99.5 FM, Metroland Media, Muskoka Post and Your TV.
